How do you build a mini bar? I am not a carpenter but I have some fundamental building skills and I am looking for some plans/sketches/whatever to help me build an awesome mini bar. If you know resources that might have multiple styles of mini bars that would help as well. Thanks. firekat replied: "w/ wood and glass"
nickster51875 replied: "ask Mini Me...he can help I bet"
sudbury girl replied: "buy a how to do book...they're very helpful"
B-Money replied: "Design it yourself. It will be more fulfilling when you show it off to your friends."
mykidsRmylife replied: "Start with a mini hammer and nails...
Kidding aside, You need to be somewhat more specific, Are you looking to build out of wood? Glass block? Metal?
What type of material are you considering for a countertop?
Design/style/construction will be directly effected. Also, will you have a working sink? Mini refrigerator? It all comes into play.
Provide more data in the follow up section to the question and you will get better answers."
yetti replied: "What I would do is just go to local building stores and look around. These will give you some ideas then just sit down and decide what style you want and draw it up yourself....you and only you know the look you want and the space it needs to be in....that is where I would start." Where can I find a cheap mini bar in San Diego? I don't have a lot of space in my living room so a mini bar would be perfect. Just to give an idea on the kind of mii bar I'm looking for, it would have cabinets opening from the front and possibly even have a top that opens to reveal stuff. Or if you know any plans for a mini bar that might help too. Any advice would help, thanks. What is the difference between a wet bar and a mini-bar? I need to know for my honeymoon. There's a hotel room with a wet bar, and in the item description it says mini-bar. Is there a difference? What kind of beer glasses should I get for my mini-bar? For my best-friend's 21st birthday I am getting him things to put in our mini-bar that we are going to get this upcoming school year. We are both in college right now and he is a big beer drinker, of course. He just got back from studying abroad in France and traveled to every nearby nation while he was there. I want to get him things that other guys are going to see and be like "wow, that's so cool." Any suggestions? How to Build a gymnastics mini bar (skilled handyman have an answer?)? I started a small gymnastics program in my community and would like to have the use of a mini bar. It is a single bar to practice basic gymnastics bar skills. Does anyone have any idea if it is possible to build one or will I have to shell out the 300+ dollars to purchase one? I had local woodworkers build me a few low balance beams and saved time and money. Thought I might be able to do the same thing with a mini bar but can't find any info on building one...Anyone ever built one, or know how? Here's a basic description:
Rail: 1.5" diameter - solid maple wood
Bar height adjustable from 38" to an unequaled 58".
Bar height is secured using a snaplock/turnpin combination.
Flat spreader bar (parallel to the top bar) connects the two legs under the mat, adding extra stability.
This sounds like it might be somewhat complicated to put make, but maybe there is an easier way? Any ideas? fil replied: "To me, this project does not sound complicated at all -- but attempting it without experience would be more trouble than it's worth. If you have photos of similar equipment to show to your local woodworkers, they should be able to tackle it -- however I would be surprised if anyone would build it for anywhere near $300. Charging double or triple the cost of materials is standard practice when it comes to custom woodwork...
You need to ask yourself how much YOUR time is worth (never mind aggravation, or the safety of your students), and when you do you may decide it's better to just go ahead and buy one.
Simply put, mass-production brings costs down, so unless you have a woodworking family member with extra time and a well-equipped shop, a ready-made item is often likely to be less expensive. Weigh your options.
Apologies for not having my own shop and living so far away. You know I'd build it for the cost of materials otherwise.
- fil" Is there a difference between a fridge and a mini-bar when they are being described on a hotel website? I am searching for a holiday in Europe and would like to know if there is a fridge in the room. Each website I go on say 'mini bar/fridge' so I'm not sure how I should take that. It is for a half board stay. Large Rat replied: "They are the same thing."
abby replied: "I would say they are different. A mini bar is full of miniture drinks and a fridge is empty. I have been in a hotel with a mini bar and they have thrown out my milk and other thing I have kept in there."
gilly g replied: "It means that there is a fridge that is full of stuff you can buy. There might be room to add some extra stuff if you want to take some stuff. .Normally if there is a kitchen in the room they'll just put fridge."
LouLou replied: "If it states there is a fridge, then there is just a fridge with no extra charge.
If it states mini bar it usually contains alchohol but you will get charged if you use any of it."
SK replied: "I would assume that if it just said fridge, it would be for you to put your own stuff in. Minibar has alcohol etc for you to buy.
Maybe by saying minibar/fridge, it has room in it for you to put things in if you like."
andreaqi replied: "They are the same thing but many hotels make the following difference:
Fridge: is there, working, but empty (if you need you can fill it with your things
Minibar: the same small fridge, but filled with the usual overpriced stuff (you have less space left for your things, or you need to dig out mini bottles of vodka and cognac in order to earn space for your things)"
gembolatino replied: "a mini bar/fridge is a mini fridge stocked with nuts, alcohol, coke etc. just a fridge is just a fridge."
david h replied: "A mini-bar / fridge is indeed a fridge but its very small ! i would guess about 40 cm x 40 cm x 40 cm but may be even smaller and its full of alcohol , mini bottles of whisky, gin, vodka and beer soft drinks and possibly chocholate and nuts. You will be charged for anything you use of course !
On arrival if you empty the mini bar/fridge of all its contents then it can be used as a fridge however you will not get much food in it , but is ideal for a pint of milk and some meat for a sandwhich. On departure refill the fridge to how it was when you arrived and there will be no charge."
murphywingedspur replied: "Well, a mini bar will be stocked with so many shorts/beer/mixers, and will be restocked with whatever you have used. At the end of your stay, unless it has been stated as a ''free'' mini bar, you will be charged for whatever you have used. If it just states 'fridge', then you will just find that it is a mini fridge, but not stocked." Puma replied: "A small coffee grinder, whole coffee beans, a jar of jelly beans, espresso syrups, a French coffee press, a small espresso machine. If you like virgin drinks, you might consider a blender, some Strawberry Margarita Mix and Grenadine. Don't forget to put a ribbon around your candy jar.....I just love a non-alcoholic bar.
Your friend, PUMA"
Digby replied: "Go healthy with little bottles of fresh juice, water and smoothies"
Scooter_will_get_better replied: "Only thing i can suggest are juices for the kids. Im sure i may figure out more ideas later. Congrats on the new place btw."

I've developed an ulcer RIGHT before my trip to Vegas. >.< Some hotels I've stayed at in other places had mini-bars in lil fridges; anyone know if Planet Hollywood rooms are the same? I'm hoping I can bring good-for-my-tummy foods with me since eating is going to be a problem. Is it weird to have like a mini bar thing in my house? . mtnglo replied: "Not at all. It's your house. Enjoy it!"
yayita replied: "Absolutely not, actually it's a cool idea!"
007 replied: "no man it's totally cool and besides it's your house you're in charge"
